Expert Terms

1. Who these terms are between

These terms apply between you, the engineer (“Expert”), and MARKETRONIX LTD, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 17331464, of Dept 6916, 196 High Road, Wood Green, London, N22 8HH, United Kingdom (“we”, “us”), which operates Ratify at ratify.studio. They govern the review and build work you do for Ratify customers. Customers' use of the site is covered separately by our Terms & Conditions.

2. Independent contractor

You work for us as an independent contractor, not as an employee, worker, agent or partner. You decide how and when you do the work, you use your own equipment, and you may work for others provided it does not break the confidentiality section below. Nothing in these terms guarantees you a minimum amount of work, and you may decline any project we offer you.

3. Who can apply

  • You must be at least 18 years old.
  • You must not be resident in, or working from, any of: Russia, Belarus, Iran, North Korea, Syria and Cuba. We cannot engage or pay experts there, and applications from these countries are refused.
  • The information in your application (name, experience, portfolio, GitHub profile, country) must be true and your own.

4. Application and approval

You apply through the expert application. Our team reviews every application and may ask for a short call or a sample of your work. Approval is at our discretion. Once approved, you sign in to your expert console at /dashboard/expert, where the projects assigned to you appear.

You may attach a CV (PDF or Word) to your application. It is optional and is used only to assess your application. It is kept in private storage and seen only by the staff who review applications. We keep it with your application until you ask us to delete it; if you are approved and later delete your account, it is deleted with the account. See the Privacy Policy.

You must upload a government ID (passport, national ID card or driving licence) with your application, so that we can verify who we engage and pay; we cannot approve an application without one. It is kept in private storage, seen only by the staff who review applications, deleted if your application is declined, and otherwise kept while your expert account exists, as the Privacy Policy sets out.

5. The work

  • We assign you customer projects; each one shows its brief, stack and code.
  • You review the work against the Ratify rubric (security, performance, quality), record your scores and findings, and either sign it off or send it back for revisions.
  • Your sign-off must reflect your honest professional judgement.
  • You must not hand assigned work to anyone else without our written agreement.

6. Confidentiality

Customer code, briefs, credentials, data and business information you see through Ratify are confidential. You agree to use them only to do the assigned work, not to copy, publish or share them, not to contact customers outside Ratify about their project, and to delete local copies when the work is finished. This obligation continues after you stop working with us. Where a customer asks for it, you agree to sign a separate non-disclosure agreement before starting their project.

7. Intellectual property

Code and written review material you produce for a customer project belong to that customer on payment. You keep your general skills and know-how, and any pre-existing tools of your own, which you license to the customer to the extent they are included in the work.

8. Rate and payment

  • You are engaged and paid by MARKETRONIX LTD. Customers do not pay you directly, and you must not accept payment from a customer.
  • You are paid at the hourly rate agreed with you in writing when you are approved (the rate you give in your application is the starting point), for the hours recorded on work we have approved.
  • Payment is made by manual bank transfer to a bank account in your own name, after the work is approved. We do not pay by any other method.
  • If we reasonably reject work as not meeting the rubric, we tell you why and give you the chance to put it right before any payment decision.

9. Ending the arrangement

Either side may end the arrangement at any time by written notice. Approved work done before the end date is still paid. We may suspend your access immediately if you break the confidentiality section, if your application information turns out to be untrue, or if you become resident in a country listed above.

10. Liability

Neither side limits liability for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence. Otherwise, our total liability to you under these terms is limited to the amounts payable to you for approved work in the three months before the claim.

11. Changes

If we change these terms we will publish a new version on this page, with its date, before it applies to approved experts. The version you accepted is recorded with your application.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
